At the start of the season, the objective of the leaders of CS Vienne Rugby was first and foremost to maintain National 2. We are no longer there, but in reality, well beyond!
After a season that has alternated more ups than downs, the Skies et Blancs are playing big this time with the possibility of playing their qualification on Sunday during the return match, in the semi-finals of the National 2 championship. Just that!
Nothing is ever certain in sport, but the Viennese who made a very strong impression last Sunday on their home ground at Jean Etcheberry have a good chance, barring an accident, of continuing their beautiful journey towards the stars.
The Viennese indeed won, as we saw, last Sunday in the quarter-final first leg against Nîmes by a river score of 41 to 10, in front of nearly 2,000 enthusiastic supporters.
It is in these great moments that we glimpse the quality of a team: in this important match, the Skies et Blancs showed great mastery of the game and unfailing voluntarism; and this, facing the group leader who also has the strong ambition to climb to the level above.
By flattening no less than six tries, the Viennese delighted their supporters and showed a skill that they will have to repeat on Sunday.
Admittedly, this Sunday, May 14, at 3 p.m. at the Kaufmann stadium in Nîmes, despite the lead taken by Vienna, against the Nîmes supporters who will garnish the stadium, it should be a different story!
The Viennese gained thanks to their excellent result of solid ammunition with the offensive bonus and 31 points in advance.
All they have to do is develop their game by leaning on this solid mattress…
Dare the Viennese!
