The candidate for mayor of Almería for Ciudadanos, Rafa Burgos, has held a meeting with ONCE workers in Almería to hear their demands in order to introduce their proposals in the CS electoral program. In this meeting, Burgos has defended the commitment of liberal education for universal accessibility in public administrations. “We advocate that all the facilities of the Almería City Council, including both buildings and public services, be accessible to all people with special needs”, Burgos has argued after listening to the problems that this group faces when addressing the administration.
In this sense, the mayor of CS has stressed that universal accessibility goes beyond the elimination of architectural barriers. Likewise, Rafa Burgos recalled her initiative to create a ‘one-stop shop’ in the Almería City Council for the elderly and people with disabilities. It is a motion approved unanimously, in which “We ask for an administrative office so that citizens who need special attention, be it cognitive, auditory, visual or digital literacycan be treated on an equal footing with the rest of the neighbors”, explained the Liberal representative, Rafa Burgos.
“We support the drafting of a Municipal Ordinance of Universal AccessibilityWe also support the Municipal Museum Accessibility Plan or the latest announcement by the government team regarding the award of a contract to generate a municipal accessibility management platform”, commented Rafa Burgos. Adding, in this sense, that “we support any type of initiative, but what we really want is for all these actions to materialize, guaranteeing the right to equal opportunities.”
Finally, the candidate for mayor of Almería for Ciudadanos, Rafa Burgos, recalled the latest initiative that the Liberal formation raised in the Provincial Council to incorporate sign language into the Plenary Sessions and public acts of the Institution. “Our commitment is real and we will not stop working to achieve universal accessibility hand in hand with the groups involved, attending to their needs and demands”, concluded Rafa Burgos, the Liberal candidate for Almería City Council.
