Crystal: The Stunning 29-Story Office Building with Futuristic Design in Jinan

There are also “cracks” in the building that give it a resemblance to crystal.

SAKO Architects has designed a 29-story office building called Crystal. It is located in the Chinese city of Jinan next to the new high-speed railway station, reports Parametric Architecture.

The building has a maximum height of 126 meters and is designed with an area ratio of 500% to maximize cost efficiency.

On a large square plane there is a 27-meter atrium, which consists of several levels. The first two levels contain the lobby and retail atrium, and at the very top there is office space with elevators at each of the four corners of the atrium that provide separate access.

The office space around the atrium is intended for use by one company or several companies. To prevent the atrium, located in the center of the building, from feeling claustrophobic due to the lack of natural light, the designers created a “crack” in the external wall through which direct light enters the atrium. The atrium is a minimalistic white space, allowing reflected light to penetrate as far into the atrium as possible.

On all sides of the building, mullions were designed to be virtually invisible. The total area is 3000 square meters and the height is 126 meters, resulting in a volume of 380,000 cubic meters. meters. There are “cracks” on each side of the building that give it the appearance of a glass crystal. The crack allows daylight into the atrium and serves as a terrace for the offices located opposite it, as well as a common terrace connected to the atrium.

“At night he turns into an illusory figure. The horizontal stripes of light illuminating the multi-level atrium and the vertical light revealing the “cracks” gradually change to blue and purple, creating a futuristic impression from the world of science fiction. Local residents compare these wavy “cracks” to a dragon taking off,” the designers said.

Earlier, the architectural bureau of Ole Schieren presented a project called Tencent Helix. We are talking about a large complex consisting of 4-5 skyscrapers. The main feature is that all the buildings will be connected to each other and “swirled in a whirlwind.”
