A 27-year-old social media influencer, Candela salazar, was recently apprehended at the Córdoba airport in Argentina while attempting to board a flight. Authorities allege that Salazar is involved in a cryptocurrency scam that has defrauded at least four individuals, promising them exorbitant interest rates of 10 to 12 percent in U.S. dollars.
matías Altamira, a lawyer specializing in computer law, explained to Chain 3 that this type of scam preys on individuals seeking high returns, offering rates considerably exceeding those offered by conventional financial institutions.
“The key is to bring great appeal, to generate an appeal far superior to what is on the market,” Altamira stated.
These schemes frequently enough rely on social proof, with early investors receiving their promised payments. This creates a ripple affect, attracting more unsuspecting individuals to the fraudulent operation.
Altamira urges caution when considering cryptocurrency investments. ”One has to be very jealous and cautious at the moment,” he advises. Instead of being lured by the promise of rapid riches, he recommends thorough research and analysis before committing funds.
“Raise yoru guard twice as much and analyze very, very determinedly,” Altamira warns.
the scam allegedly orchestrated by Salazar has resulted in losses of nearly $23,000, though authorities believe there might potentially be additional victims. Altamira notes that these scams often operate within networks of acquaintances, with initial payments made to build trust and credibility.
