A run of three draws in the first three games left Cruzeiro in an uncomfortable position in the Copa Sudamericana. To respond in the competition and fight until the end for classification, Raposa must beat Alianza away from home. The duel in the fourth round of Group B will take place this Tuesday (7/5), starting at 9:30 pm, at the Estadio Armando Maestre Pajaveau, in Valledupar, Colombia.
In previous matches, Cruzeiro was 0-0 with Universidad Católica, in Ecuador, and Unión La Calera, in Chile. The first duel with Alianza ended in a feeling of shame at Mineirão.
In less than 20 minutes, the celestial team had already opened a three-goal lead over their Colombian opponent. Inconsistent in midfield and weak in defense, Cruzeiro gave way to Alianza, who took advantage of mistakes to tie the game in the second half.
Easy product delivery, at home, created several complaints from fans. The mood at the time was not good, as Raposa was coming off a loss against Atlético in the final of the Campeonato Mineiro and had just sacked coach Nicolás Larcamón.
Now, the team is coached by Fernando Zebra, who made his debut in disgrace against Alianza. Having been in office for less than a month, the professional has alternated between good results and bad results and has already participated in six matches: two wins, three draws and one loss.
South American Group B standings
- Universidad Católica-EQU: 7 points
- La Calera-CHI Union: 4 points
- Cruise: 3 points
- Alianza-COL: 1 point
Only the group leader qualifies directly for the round of 16 South American Championship. The second-placed team must compete in a replay against one of the teams eliminated in the Copa Libertadores group stage.
Alianza x Cruzeiro: where to watch
Those who want to watch the duel between Alianza and Cruzeiro will have options ESPN 4 (closed TV), SBT / Alterosa (open TV) and Star + (streaming).
Alianza x Cruzeiro: Lineup
As he is still at the beginning of his career, Fernando Seabra is testing formations and does not have a 100% marked team at Cruzeiro. But one thing is certain: the coach will send a different format to the field than those who went on the field in the first three rounds of the South American Championship.
Most Likely Alianza Series
The Alianza lineup remains a mystery. The Valledupar-based side are coming off a poor run of results after their heroic 3-3 draw with Cruzeiro at Mineirão, in the second round of the South American Championship, and may have some changes.
Without major injuries in the team, coach Iván Velásquez will have to change at least two areas of the field.
- Most Likely Alianza Team: Grazzinai Guerrero Pier (Navarro), Olaya, Pedro Franco and Leonardo Saldaña (Ospina); Mercado, Castillo and Jiménez; Emerson Batalla, Mayer Gil and Valencia
- Absence of Alianza: he doesn’t have
Cruzeiro’s most likely record
Cruzeiro should not have any major changes in the team until the match against Colombia. The only doubt that the coach Fernando Seabra has regarding the use of Álvaro Barreal among the starters. He can win the contest with Arthur Gomes on the left wing or replace José Cifuentes in midfield.
Already fox from March, the striker can be rewarded for his great participation in the 3-1 victory over Vitória, at Mineirão, in Belo Horizonte, in the fourth round of the Brazilian Championship. Barreal came off the bench and gave two assists to his players in the second half.
Zebra also liked the general performance of the starting team against Vitória. For this reason, the defense must be maintained by Zé Ivaldo and João Marcelo, and the midfield trio can again include Lucas Romero, Lucas Silva and Cifuentes.
Absence in Raposa
The absences and absences of Cruzeiro depend on four players. Juan Dinenno is the biggest loser. The Argentine center forward began a hybrid operation on the field after recovering from an injury to his left thigh and broken bones in his nose, but is still not fit to play.
Then, midfielder Mateus Vital underwent surgery on his right shoulder. Midfielder Japa suffered a muscle injury on his left thigh and began treatment in the medical department..
Rafael Bilu is someone who is close to returning to the field after a long period of inactivity. The striker is in the final stages of recovery from surgery on the Achilles tendon in his right leg.
- Cruzeiro’s most likely team: Anderson; William, Zé Ivaldo, João Marcelo and Marlon; Lucas Romero, Lucas Silva, José Cifuentes and Matheus Pereira; Arthur Gomes (Álvaro Barreal) and Rafa Silva
- Comments: Mateus Vital (right shoulder injury), Japa (left thigh injury), Juan Dinenno (physical movement) and Rafael Bilu (physical movement)
Alianza x Cruzeiro: character
“Whether at home or away, we try to play offensively. And tomorrow will be no different. We need a good result, so we will go forward with the whole team, looking for results. And he (wants to) spend the 90 minutes focused, so there are no surprises.”
