Claims
“They chose a bad time to make this unnecessary change. We are unhappy with the team. The trend is dissatisfaction. Better not change and avoid stress or at least put a darker color on Raposão, because he is an albino and is really difficult to accept”, tweeted a Cruzeirense, citing Cruzeiro’s weak performance in the season, which culminated in the elimination in the Campeonato Mineiro.
“If you think that what you are doing with Cruzeiro is management, forgive me. It even left for Raposão. What a ridiculous business”, published another fan.
“Marketing demonstrates once again that they don’t know the club’s history. They managed to remove the main characteristic of Raposão, which was that imposing, bold, victorious aspect, and they changed it to that”, complained an organized supporter of the club.
New versions of mascots
“Inspired by the cartoonist Mangabeira’s 1945 drawing, Raposão had several physical versions, but today it receives its first major visual makeover, along with Raposinho”, reported Cruzeiro.
Raposão’s debut as Cruzeiro’s mascot was on March 23, 2003, in a 4-0 victory over Tupi, for the Campeonato Mineiro, with three goals by Alex.
The new versions of Raposão and Raposinho should be presented to the fans in the match against Grêmio, for the second round of the Brazilian Championship. The game is pre-scheduled for April 22, at Independência, in Belo Horizonte.
