Cruzeiro beats Lanús with miracles from Cássio, goes to the final, and Diniz breathes

Cruzeiro awaits Corinthians or Racing in the South American final. The two teams will face each other next Thursday (31), in Argentina, in the second round. Brazilians and Argentines drew 2-2 in the first game, in São Paulo.

Cruzeiro is the 11th Brazilian team to reach the South American final. São Paulo, Flamengo, Athletico, Fluminense, International, Bragantino, Goiás, ChapecoensePonte Preta and Fortaleza have also achieved the feat.

Cruzeiro will return to the field next Wednesday (6). The team from Minas Gerais will host Flamengo, at 9 pm (Brasilia time), in a match valid for the 32nd round of the Brasileirão.

Lanús dominated much of the first half, but was hampered by three things: Cassio, a crossbar and an offside.. The home side were more dangerous in the first 40 minutes of the game, but they saw Marcelino Moreno, their main player, have a good goal disallowed for offside and a miraculous stop by Cássio (and then the bar -cross). Boggio was also a prominent name and, like his teammates, the Cruzeiro goalkeeper saw another save.
