Cruz Azul women’s team beats San Luis 2-0 and moves closer to playoff spot

Mexico City., With goals from Renata Huerta and Ximena Ríos, Cruz Azul defeated Atlético de San Luis 2-0 and moved closer to the playoffs, this Saturday in a match corresponding to matchday ten of the 2024 Clausura tournament of the Liga Mx Femenil, held at the La Noria facilities.

Thanks to this result, La Máquina added 14 points and rose to tenth place in the general classification, while the team from Potosí remained in 14th place, with six points.

The sky-blues took the lead in the 6th minute, when Renata Huerta received a through ball from her teammate Vivian Ikechukwu and without hesitation unleashed a powerful shot to beat visiting goalkeeper Nicole Buenfil and put the score at 1-0.

Despite the early goal, the team from Potosi, led by Daniel Flores, gradually began to threaten the home goal and threatened to shoot hard on several occasions, but their lack of forcefulness and the timely reactions of goalkeeper Alejandría Godínez prevented them from doing any damage to their opponent.
