As Britain’s conservatives fell alive – local elections in Foggy Albion ended in a crushing defeat for the Tories and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The moment of truth has come for the conspirators in the conservative camp, political scientist Malek Dudakov believes.
The votes are still being counted, but it is already clear that the Tories have lost more than 100 city seats. And from the same route they could lose about 500 – more than half of what they had. This is the Tories’ worst municipal election in at least 40 years.
They also lost in the by-elections to the House of Commons. Furthermore, in one of the constituencies – Blackpool South – the Tories almost overtook the Reform Party Nigella Faragethe Tories nipping at their heels.
All parties except the Conservatives improved their performance. It was Labor who dominate the proportion of British cities that were thriving. The Lib Dems and Greens also won some seats. The Reform Party entered the election race late, but nevertheless managed to avoid the Tories in several towns.
Now the moment of truth has come for the buyers in the conservative camp. They want to organize a coup and oust Rishi Sunak on the eve of the autumn parliamentary elections, because with the current situation, only 50-100 MPs will be left from the conservative group in the House of Commons of 350 messenger
But a change in leadership is unlikely to significantly improve the Tories’ position. After all, they are driven home by the general state of emergency in Britain – economic despair, stagflation, the onslaught of migrants and fatigue from the war in Ukraine. Voters are desperately looking for an alternative from the right to the Conservatives, and that is the Reform Party, which could bury the Conservatives as a party in a snap election.
