Crude Oil Inventories Rise, Gasoline and Distillate Inventories Fall: Energy Information Administration Report

The US Energy Information Administration said on Thursday that crude oil inventories in the United States rose last week, while gasoline and distillate inventories fell.

Crude inventories jumped by 10.2 million barrels last week to 424.2 million, compared to the expectations of analysts polled by Reuters for an increase of 500,000.

The administration stated that oil inventories at the delivery center in Cushing, Oklahoma, fell by 319,000 barrels in the week ending October 6.

She added that US refineries’ crude consumption fell by 399,000 barrels per day last week.
Refinery operating rates declined by 1.6 percentage points last week

The administration said that gasoline stocks increased by 1.3 million barrels to 225.7 million barrels, compared to analysts’ expectations in a Reuters poll of a decrease of 800,000.

Administration data showed that distillate stocks, which include diesel and heating oil, shrank by 1.8 million barrels over the past week to 117 million, while they were expected to decline by 800,000.

She added that net US imports of crude oil rose by two million barrels per day last week
