According to the New York Mercantile Exchange, October was trading at USD79.31 per barrel at time of writing, up by 0.33%.
It was previously trading at a session high of USD79.49 per barrel. It may find support at USD77.59 and resistance at USD82.47.
The dollar index futures, which measures the performance of the greenback against a basket of six other major currencies, rose 0.21% to trade at USD104.14.
Meanwhile on Nymex, the October price rose by 0.30% to trade at USD83.61 per barrel, while the spread between contracts stood at USD4.3 per barrel.
