According to the New York Mercantile Exchange, October was trading at USD81.72 per barrel at time of writing, up by 0.69%.
It was previously trading at a session high of USD82.05 per barrel. It may find support at USD77.59 and resistance at USD82.05.
The dollar index futures, which measures the performance of the US currency against a basket of six other major currencies, fell by 0.36% to trade at USD103.10.
Meanwhile on Nymex, the November price rose by 0.45% to trade at USD85.29 per barrel, while the spread between contracts stood at USD3.57 per barrel.
