Today is an important day for Bayer Leverkusen and Peter Bosz. If Die Werkself wins from Mainz at home and Borussia Mönchengladbach loses to Hertha, Leverkusen will still enter the Champions League as number four in the Bundesliga.
Leverkusen already lost last week to Hertha and therefore it is no longer in its own hands to qualify for the billions ball. “We have no choice and just have to win,” Bosz responds to the NOS. “So we are not concerned with how things are going in Mönchengladbach. Because whatever happens there, it is only interesting if we win.”
Still, fans of Die Werkself have something to hold onto. Last year Gladbach also lost the Champions League ticket on the last day of play and Leverkusen took full advantage of this. “We have shown that it is possible,” says Bosz.
“Still, there is a difference. Borussia Mönchengladbach, then and now number four, played the last game against Borussia Dortmund last year. That may be slightly different than against Hertha. But we believe in it,” concludes the former Ajax coach off.
