This Monday, 150 farmers mobilized in front of the Hôtel de Région in Bordeaux (Gironde) at the call of the Rural Coordination union. According to a press release from the Gironde prefecture, this gathering gave rise to “to the dumping of several skips of manure, slurry and tires near the building where the headquarters were located” the elected representatives of the regional council.
“The building was protected by security forces to prevent any intrusion, however the representatives of the demonstrators were able to speak in front of all the regional councilors”specifies the prefecture which nevertheless emphasizes the employment “twice” by law enforcement with tear gas “against demonstrators to avoid attempted intrusions into the regional council and the departmental council of Gironde”.
According to the prefecture’s report, a CRS officer was injured “and damage was committed to a door of the departmental council and on the quays of the City of Bordeaux including the water mirror”. The prefect of Gironde “condemns with the greatest firmness these acts of vandalism”. Contacted by France Bleu Gironde, the Rural Coordination specified that it had called for demonstrations on this day of the plenary session of the regional council, regretting the absence of an item on the agricultural crisis on the agenda.
