With the entry into force of the new Infection Protection Act, federal states are free to reintroduce the requirement to wear face masks indoors. This shouldn’t be happening in the Southwest for the moment.

It seems that the masks have accompanied us long enough in everyday life. Recall, 2020 began with the corona virus. Wearing a mask was somewhat odd at first, but quickly reaching for the face mask has become a routine. In the meantime we got rid of things in most areas. In general, the current state Crown Ordinance of Baden-Württemberg seems extremely cautious.

BW mask requirement: “Only when the infection situation threatens to worsen significantly”

And for the time being, it should remain so, as HEIDELBERG24 reports, despite the new infection protection law approved on Friday (September 16). Because despite the increasingly colder climate, Baden-Württemberg does not want to tighten the measures against the spread of the corona virus for the moment, contrary to previous fears.

The Ministry of Health announced on Friday that the regulations currently in force in the country will be maintained from 1 October and adapted only to the new federal law on protection from infections. “Only when the infection situation threatens to significantly deteriorate in the fall and winter are additional measures under the Infection Protection Act necessary.”

Crown in Baden-Württemberg: no more blockades, closures of companies or schools

In Germany, some mask and test requirements against Corona will apply again in the fall and winter. These provide new rules for dealing with the pandemic, which the Federal Council approved in Berlin on Friday. The mask requirement applies nationwide on long-distance trains, clinics and doctors’ offices. Countries can also re-specify the use of masks in restaurants and other inland areas. Lockdowns, company or school closures, on the other hand, should no longer exist.

Immediately after the draft was published in early August, the now passed law drew criticism from the Southwest as well. Baden-Württemberg’s Minister of Health and Social Affairs, Manne Lucha (Verdi), for example, did not go far enough. It was no surprise at the time: Lucha had already called for stricter rules for fighting the crown in Baden-Württemberg in June. It therefore remains to be seen whether there will also be a permanent “liberation” from the mask in winter. (mko / dpa)
