– There is something very good about this age too. It is a security. I am much less concerned with what people think of me. There are other things that are more important now, says Crown Princess Mette-Marit in an interview with the magazine D2.

On Saturday, she has her 50th birthday, and on that occasion she has given two interviews: One with D2 and one with NRK, which will be published later.

The Crown Princess opens up about her youth, her view of the press, her new hobby of weaving and what life as a royal is like.

Youth and mental health have become two of her most important areas of work.

– It was important to me for several reasons, she says.

– Both because I experienced a number of challenges when I was young myself, where I struggled to find a party in my life, and because I think it was quite challenging in the period when I met my husband, says the crown princess to D2.

When asked if she has wondered what life would have been like if she had not met the crown prince, the crown princess replies as follows:

– Yes, I have entertained that thought a few times. I have no idea what I was doing.

– I think it was very good that I met Haakon.
