Crown Princess Amalia: – Not ready to be queen

The Dutch Crown Princess Catharina-Amalia (17) reveals her thoughts on taking over the throne from her father, King Willem-Alexander (54), in a new biography, published on Tuesday.

In the book, which has been published ahead of the Crown Princess’ 18th birthday, she reveals that she is not ready to become queen yet, writes Reuters. However, she is prepared to serve her country when the time comes.

The young heir to the throne turns 18 at the beginning of December. If she was not in the line of succession and was to become the queen of the Netherlands, she would work as a musician or rider, according to the news agency.

The Crown Princess is the daughter of Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander (54), son of the former Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. They also have princess children Alexia (16) and Ariane (14).

“(..) I find it uncomfortable as long as I do nothing for the money, and while other students have it much harder, especially in this period of the coronavirus,” the Crown Princess wrote in a handwritten letter to Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
