Crown Prince JordanAl Hussein bin Abdullah II, married the daughter of one of the leading business families Arab Saudi who are cronies of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS), Thursday (1/6).

Al Hussein is married to Rajwa Alseif, a 29-year-old Saudi architect who graduated from Syracuse University in New York.

Alseif is the daughter of a mother who is still a descendant of Al-Sudairi. Hence, he has a relationship with MbS.

MbS himself is the son of King Salman who is one of the seven brothers known as the “Sudairi Seven”. Sudairi Seven is a descendant of King Abdulaziz with his wife, Hussa binti Ahmed Al-Sudairi.

reported CNN, the wedding was held on Thursday at 09.00 am local time. The King and Queen of Jordan welcomed the guests who came to the Zahran Palace. Their arrival was accompanied by music played by the Jordanian armed forces.

The wedding ceremony was then moved to the gazebo in the palace garden. The bride and groom as well as their father signed the marriage contract in an Islamic ceremony, known as “Katb Al-Kitab”. They then exchanged rings afterwards.

Outside the palace, crowds of people cheered and waved flags as they waited for the motorcade carrying the newlyweds to cross the capital.

The joy was clearly visible along the streets of the capital which for the last few days had been decorated with photographs of the bride and groom and the Jordanian flag.

Saudi Arabia and Jordan have had close relations recently, after years of friction. Last year, MBS traveled to the country and stated that he wanted to push relations (with Jordan) to a new phase.

Meanwhile, Jordan and Saudi Arabia are among the US’ strongest Middle East allies. Jordan is the custodian of the Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and maintains relations with the Palestinians and Israel.

However, relations between Riyadh and Washington have been strained lately. The two countries have had minor disagreements over Saudi oil policy and Riyadh’s relationship with Russia.
