The marriage was decided to be dissolved by the Crown Prince of Albania Leka and Crown Princess Elia.
They married in October 2016 and had a daughter, Geraldine, now three. On January 15, Prince Leka announced on social networks that the couple had decided to divorce.
IN statement Prince Leka, who is the head of the Albanian royal family, said their little daughter will remain their top priority.
“Hello friends and well-wishers, with this message I officially inform you that Prince Leka and Elia Zachariah have agreed to dissolve their marriage. Since our marriage has lost its function, we have decided to end it by mutual consent, starting all the necessary legal procedures,” reads Prince’s statement.
“Despite his trust in the institution of the family, Prince Leka II believes that the values of mutual respect and understanding will form the basis of the relationship in its continuity, the motive of which will be the growth and education of Princess Geraldine!!! The spiritual and physical well-being of the girl, Princess Geraldine, will remain in their focus is on ensuring Geraldine has a happy and safe life,” the post added.
This is the first royal divorce in the new year 2024, which became known to the public.
