Crown Prince Jordan, suspected of conspiracy, ‘remains loyal to the king’ | NOW

Former Crown Prince of Jordan Hamza Bin Hussein, a half-brother of King Abdullah, is loyal to his country and family. He writes this in a statement that the royal family has made public, after the security service had taken him for questioning for a possible conspiracy against the royal family.

Hamza pledges allegiance to the king and the constitution and says he will always be “support and support for his majesty the king and his crown prince”.

According to the court, Hamza signed the letter after an interview with a number of members of the royal family. Among them was Prince Hassan, an uncle of the king who interceded. “The interests of the homeland must be beyond doubt. We must all stand behind the king to protect Jordan and its national interests,” the signed statement said.

Abdullah resigned Hamza, now 41, as heir to the throne in 2004. Reports emerged this weekend that his younger half-brother may have been preparing for a coup with the support of others. At least fourteen people were arrested on Sunday.

Prince was placed under house arrest

Hamza announced on Saturday evening that he has been grounded. He denies being involved in a conspiracy, but this weekend spewed criticism of the way Jordan is run. “I am not the person responsible for the collapse of the board, for the corruption and for the incompetence that has existed in our board structure for fifteen to twenty years.”

King Abdullah has received statements of support from Arab countries, as well as from the United States.
