The number of corona infections in Lower Saxony continues to rise. The seven-day incidence on Saturday was 492.3, the day before the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported the state value of 471.3. The incidence indicates how many new infections per 100,000 population were reported within a week. 6962 new confirmed infections were recorded across the country. In addition, another 22 people have died from or with Covid-19.
However, the data currently do not fully reflect the situation of the infection. Experts assume a large number of cases that are not registered by the RKI, mainly because not all infected people have performed a PCR test. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. Furthermore, delayed recordings or transmission problems can lead to distortion of the daily values.
The incidence of hospitalizations is the key figure for assessing the coronavirus situation in Lower Saxony. It indicates how many patients per 100,000 population were admitted to hospitals with a corona infection within seven days. According to the state government, this value was 9.4 on Friday. The statistics have not yet been updated on Saturday. Nationwide, 3.0 percent of ICU beds were occupied by Covid 19 patients.
In the comparison between districts and urban districts, the Celle district reported the highest incidence with 655.3 before the Schaumburg district (651.5). The city of Wolfsburg recorded the lowest value with 292.9.
In the smaller federal state of Bremen, the seven-day incidence rose to 497.9 in a weekly comparison after Friday’s 449.4. The number of new confirmed infections increased by 563 and there were no more deaths.
