A prominent film crew is collecting money in order to realize the last project of the Austrian cult director Reinhard Schwabenitzky (“Mundl”), who died in February: Under the title “The Fourth Man” they want to shoot a short film in autumn with Schwabenitzky as dramaturge, should raise at least 50,000 euros via crowdfunding campaign. Director Alexander Hahn and cameraman Istvan Pinter have a star ensemble for this.
Local actors such as Erni Mangold, Branko Samarowski, Gregor Bloéb, Robert Palfrader, Reinhard Nowak or the French film star Dominique Pinon would be in front of the camera if the worst came to the worst. And Cornelius Obonya also promotes the project in the project video: “It’s a wonderful, dark and a bit sad, but playful story.”
At its core is an evening in the Viennese coffee house Sperl, in which a participant remembers an encounter in 1919. At that time there was a young man in a group who refused to shake hands with those present – after all, whoever touched him died. And this is happening. “The Fourth Man” should therefore be a mixture of horror film and socio-political parable in times of a pandemic.
The implementation period for the crowdfunding campaign is July 3rd. Schwabenitzky or simply film fans can choose from various financing packages. The spectrum here ranges from 50 euros, which entails a DVD and a mention in the credits, to private film screenings for 11,000 euros.
