Anyer-Carita Beach and other tourist destinations in Banten were temporarily closed due to the accumulation of visitors during the Eid holiday. This closure is outlined in the Governor’s Instruction Number 556/901-Dispar / 2021 and takes effect from Saturday (15/5/2021) at 21.00 WIB until 30 May 2021.

The policy of closing tourist destinations has seen the development of visitors to several tourist objects in Banten on these two days, 14-15 May 2021. The enthusiasm of visitors can cause vulnerability to health protocol violations.

“The temporary closure of tourist destinations in Banten Province from May 15 at 21.00 WIB until May 30, 2021,” said Banten COVID-19 Task Force spokesman Ati Pramudji Hastuti when asked for confirmation by reporters in Serang, Saturday (15/5/2021).

This instruction also asks regents and mayors to close these tourist destinations until a specified date. The provincial government considers the reason that today there has been a busy tourist density and this could lead to Corona clusters of tourists.

“Tourists visiting tourist destinations are very dense and crowded. This has triggered a crowd that will potentially increase COVID-19 cases from the tourist cluster,” he said.

Several tourist objects in Banten such as Anyer and Carita today are indeed busy and crowded with tourists. In fact, access to Anyer beach, both from arterial and alternative routes, is congested.

Vehicles snaking along 10 kilometers, especially in the Mancak access to Anyer, even before evening. Meanwhile, tourists to the coast in Carita had to be dismissed by officers because they had ignored health protocols and were crowding around.
