Cross data on rice stocks from Ministry of Agriculture VsBapanas and Bulog leading to import plans

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – National Food Agency, public body Bulogand the Ministry of Agriculture (Minister of Agriculture) disputes over national rice stockpile data.

This is because the data disclosed by the Ministry of Agriculture is different from the data owned by the National Food Agency (Bapanas) and Perum Bulog.

The debate was initiated by the Director General of Food Crops of the Ministry of Agriculture, Suwandi, who corrected the data presented by the Head of the National Food Agency, Arief Prasetyo Adi.

Suwandi said the data presented by the National Food Agency on rice consumption presented by Arief was different from the BPS.

In Kelvin’s presentation, there were 31.31 million tons in 2019, 31.50 million tons in 2020, 31.36 million tons in 2022, and 32.07 million tons in 2022. This is the production data of rice from 2019 to 2022 by BPS presented by Kelvin.

According to Kelvin, the data presented by the Food Agency are different from those released by BPS.

“After that, I corrected the consumption of Head of Bapanas in 2022 to verify that it is higher than the release of BPS, i.e. 30.2 million tons. “The data of Bapanas Head was 39 million tons,” he said in a hearing meeting (RDP) with Commission IV DPR RI with the Ministry of Agriculture, Bapanas and ID Food, Wednesday (23/11/2022).

Then the President of the IV DPR Commission RI Sudin questioned the current Ministry of Agriculture national rice reserve where he mentioned the General Manager of Food Cultivation. He also questioned what method was used to calculate the condition of in-house stocks for traders.

“The question is where is the rice? What method do you use? How many millions of households, hundreds of thousands of tons of household stocks, and that’s it, which sample do I want to buy,” Sudin said.

“So the traders are still fine, you can still see, at the mill, which refinery? Give us what data. Because this is different news. It’s different, a you say so, b you say so,” continued Sudin.
