On October 2, in the Madona region, Lubāna, on the Lubāna motorcycle track, the third stage of the Latvian cross country cup took place. This was a new experience for athletes, because for the first time cross country started on this track and place.
On the Lubāna motorcycle track, the day was a success, the sun was shining and the athletes were happy to start again in the cross country stage. At this stage, motocross riders also tried their hand and started. 103 participants took part in solo classes and fought for victories, but 20 riders in quad class.
Rainer Žuks (“Motokurzeme”) was the fastest at this stage, leaving behind experienced enduro riders Ivo Šteinbergs (“CEC IS Racing”) and Gati Būmanis (“Motosports RT”).
Rainer Žuks (“Motokurzeme”) said that the competition went well. “I fought with Ivo Steinberg. From the beginning to the finish there was a fierce fight, but it was interesting. In the final we managed to win. Of course, Ivo, as an enduro rider, was superior to me in the forest. I couldn’t compete with him there, only as much as to keep up. Also with a few falls and bumps, but on the motorcycle I was faster than him. There I was able to drive the lost and overtake him. The track in general in Lubāna is very interesting, it is very fast. There were both pits and roots. I liked. I also talked to other riders, they also admitted that the track is good. The competition in general, as always in Lubāna, is very well organized, everything was at the level. Thanks to Guntis, ”said Rainers Žuks.
In a conversation with E1 class winner Dāvis Ivanovs (“Kalsnava MB”), he admitted that at this stage he was invited to start by the organizer of the competition Guntis Klikučs. “I thank him for that. I really liked the track, it was very well prepared and everything was super. Before this stage, I had to prepare more myself, then it would have been even better. Overall, I am satisfied. There was an interesting fight on the track with Mika Rasmanis (“CEC IS Racing”), it was fun. He drives well. The start was good, but when I entered the forest, I fell, then we clashed with Mika again, I fell again. This time it was very cold, but it was a “cool” fight. Glad that Mick didn’t give up and fought to the finish. I really liked. Everything was fine, the cover was perfect, there was no dust or mud. Driving was really fun, ”says Dāvis Ivanovs,
Atis Breds (“Gulbene motto”) won the first place in Q open class: “Overall it went perfectly, because this season was my first cross country competition. The strength was also enough until the end. The track was interesting I really liked it because there were no extreme elements. The forest section was not too complicated and the part of the track gave me the opportunity to relax and I could jump on the springboards, ”says Atis. His fiercest competitor was Aivis Graudiņš (“Moto AZ”), who did not lag far throughout the trip. “I am overtaken only after refueling. I could only overtake him again after the lap and win the race! ” so Atis Brads.
ATV class winner Rolandas Puravas did very well in the competition. “After a long time, I got a very good start, I left third. Next, the main task was to get out of the motorcycle and get the best possible result. It also succeeded. I entered the forest first. That also solved everything. At the far end of the track, I no longer saw anyone behind me. I also felt good, because it wasn’t hot, the landslide didn’t bother me, ”says Rolands. As for the track, the athlete liked it and he admitted that it was very good. The first impression was also very good. “Everything is well-kept, the cross-country track is wide with interesting springboards. The forest section is narrow, with roots and stones. Everything is due on the cross country track. Surprisingly, after the solo motorcycle ride, the track was still in good condition. The sand dunes and pits were, but not so large, that you could not enjoy the track. There was also a bit of a duplicate of where to mess up. In general, I would like to return here again, ”admits the athlete.
The organizer of the competition Guntis Klikučs said that the cross country was organized for the first time and everything was successful. “We are happy. The weather was very good. Athletes enjoyed the competition. Many thanks to the team of judges for their work, they worked very professionally. Glad for the large number of participants. So many motorcycles had not been damaged by the Lubāna track at one time. There was a very intense fight between Rainer Žuka and Ivo Šteinbergs. I am very glad that our athlete from Madona region still won this duel. They drove the whole trip one after the other and the intrigue lasted until the finish. It was an enjoyable and fantastic fight for victory. Thank you to all the athletes who came and participated! ” says Guntis Klikučs.
