An unprecedented rail offer, a pledge of exemplary cooperation.

Regiolis: soon 7 railway lines between France and Germany (Stadler Grand Est region credits)

This Saturday, July 10, 2021, the first cross-border trainsets were presented in Neustadt-an-der-Weinstrasse (Germany), in the presence of Anne Sander, regional advisor and MEP, and Evelyne Isinger, regional advisor specializing in cross-border mobility. This event across the Rhine gives concrete expression to the Franco-German rail project, ultimately making it possible to better connect populations on both sides of the borders.

The Grand Est at the heart of Europe

Because it is in the Grand Est that the Europe of tomorrow is being built, the Region, with the three border Länder (Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saar), wanted to develop this large-scale project which, in addition, Beyond its unprecedented dimension in European public transport, is a real support to maintain employment, economic activity and the know-how of the Reichshoffen site in France in the Grand Est.

In total, the Region will invest nearly 376 million euros for the construction of 30 cross-border Régiolis trainsets. Seven railway lines will thus see their operation improved or will be opened by 2025 in order to further mesh our territories with direct cross-border links: Metz-Trier, Metz-Saarbrücken, Strasbourg-Saarbrücken, Strasbourg-Wörth-Karlsruhe, Strasbourg-Neustadt, Mulhouse- Müllheim, Strasbourg-Offenburg.

In many ways, this order contributes to the attractiveness of mobility in the Grand Est region: both by safeguarding the small lines, used by the new cross-border Régiolis between now and 2025, but also by increasing the regional fleet. to 100 Régiolis, thus offering an adapted TER offer.

More than a political will, the rail reconquest of the territories has already been initiated by the Grand Est Region and its German partners and friends!
