• 2019 World Matchplay winner Rob Cross survived the first round match with an 11-9 win over Chris Dobie.
• In the course of the match, Dobie built up a three-break advantage to lead 8-2, but Cross won six straight legs, tied the game and, seizing the initiative, won the deciding legs as well.
• In the second round, Kroos will face Portugal’s best darts thrower Jose de Souza.

• Michael Smith also made a comeback, trailing 4-8 against Andrew Gilding, winning 11-9 in the end.
• Rowby John Rodriguez of Switzerland knocked out eighth-ranked Johnny Clayton in the first round, winning 10-7. Rodriguez got the decisive break advantage in the tenth leg.
• Two-time World Matchplay winner Michael van Gerwen beat Adrian Louis 10-7, while Gerwin Price beat Martin Schindler by the same score.
• The second round with four matches will start tonight. The champion will be decided on Sunday.
• For the first time, the best Latvian darts thrower Madars Razma participated in the World Matchplay. losing in the first round to current champion and leader Peter Wright.
