Woman from Velen fell for fraudulent message
BORKEN DISTRICT | pd | A woman in Velen has been the victim of a fraudulent message in recent days. The perpetrators contacted her via text message – pretending to be a delivery service. Since the victim was actually expecting a package, the request seemed credible to her. This gave the perpetrators access to the Velen woman’s account details, from which they subsequently debited money twice.
In light of this current case, the police are renewing their warning against this scam. Under no circumstances should anyone receiving such messages provide personal data. Further information on “smishing” with fake SMS can be found on the website www-polizei-beratung.de.
