Croissant and Basket limit orders, they want to prevent the collapse of supplies

Online supermarkets are seeing increased interest in their services in connection with new government measures against coronavirus. In an effort to satisfy everyone, for example people in quarantine, Rohlik.cz will introduce a limit of 35 items to buy from Friday. One customer will only be able to place one order per day at a time. Rohlik.cz will open other free dates for orders every day at 10:00, 14:00 and 17:00, said Petr Pavlík, the company’s director, today.

With regard to customer demand, the situation is beginning to resemble this spring, but thanks to good preparation and the measures taken, we can operate without restrictions.

According to the executive director of the company, Tomáš Jeřábek, the purchase on Košíku.cz is limited by a weight limit in order to avoid extreme orders. “It is set relatively slightly and there is no need to tighten it yet, but we are evaluating the situation and if it changes significantly, we will of course respond to it, for example by gradually reducing it,” he said.

At the same time, Rohlik.cz will only accept payment by card in advance. As in the spring, seniors and people with a disability card will have an exception. The e-shop has also temporarily stopped taking back shopping bags and returnable packaging.

According to Jeřábek, the couriers of the Basket stopped taking cash this week and the e-shop is considering re-introducing it only with a card in advance. However, it does not plan to limit purchases to one customer. He accepts returnable packaging, but even in this case, according to Jeřábek, he will react to the development of the situation.

“It is necessary to realize that the situation with regard to customer demand is beginning to resemble this spring, but thanks to good preparation and the measures taken, we can operate without restrictions,” said Jeřábek.

According to Pavlík, Rohlík is working to increase capacity, whether they are reinforcements in the warehouse or couriers. “We reserve goods from our suppliers. And that crucial support will be the opening of our next warehouse in Prague in Horní Počernice next week, “he said.

Food is also sold by other online stores

Czech online supermarkets expanded their services in the spring wave of pandemics. They introduced distribution in other regions, in addition to food, they began to supply ready meals, they prepared an offer for seniors. Due to the enormous interest in buying durable food on the Internet, the Mall.cz and Alza.cz e-shops also included this assortment in the offer.

Tesco offers online food sales from stone chains. The network of Žabka stores, which is part of the Tesco Group, in Prague, in cooperation with Bolt, delivers purchases within an hour of ordering. Since June, the Makro company has also been offering sales through the e-shop to members of its My Store retail store project. Globus customers can also make online purchases. However, they must pick up the order in a hypermarket in Prague in Zličín.
