The Croatian mixed tennis team Donna Vekic (27) and Borna Coric (26) won the traditional Hopman Cup in Nice.
In the final against Switzerland, Vekic defeated Celine Naef 6:3, 6:4 and thus prepared the match point for Coric. He then defeated Leandro Riedi 6:1, 6:4 and secured the title for Croatia.
World number one Carlos Alcaraz also served at this year’s edition of the tournament. Just five days after his Wimbledon triumph, he won against Belgian David Goffin on Friday.
The 20-year-old also won his second singles against Coric, but was unable to prevent Spain’s defeat against Croatia and the elimination.
The Hopman Cup last took place in 2019, when Roger Federer and Belinda Bencic defended their title from 2018. The final opponent in both finals was Germany, which was not represented that year.
