Original title: Croatia officially joins the eurozone and the Schengen area
As of 1 January 2023 local time, Croatia will officially use the euro and join the Schengen area.
After the introduction of the euro, Croatia will display commodity prices in its national currency, the kuna and the euro, and the dual display of commodity prices will continue until the end of 2023. From the date of the official introduction of the euro, Croatians can exchange kunas for euros free of charge at banks, post offices and state financial institutions.
After joining the Schengen area, Croatia has lifted land and sea border controls of EU member states, and air traffic controls will also be lifted on March 26.
On 12 July 2022, the Council of the European Union officially approved the accession of Croatia to the Eurozone on 1 January 2023.
