If you are interested in an Apple Watch but don’t want to spend too much money, you have always used the aluminum version of the watch without a cell phone chip. You currently pay 430 euros for the small version (41 mm) or 480 euros for the large one (45 mm). The problem this year: Apple no longer offers the “normal” color versions of the aluminum watches that we were used to up to now. Simple silver or the popular gold are missing. A colorful mess
Apple’s current choice of colors for cheap aluminum watches is “Green”, “Blue”, “Polarstern”, “Midnight” and “(Product) RED”, a shade of red. “Polarstern” and “Midnight” come in silver and the popular “space gray” “are still closest, but are ultimately completely new colors. “Midnight” is a very dark navy blue and “Polarstern” has a light champagne tone, which in turn does not go well with silver bracelets.
Blue and red have also been slightly revised. Confusingly, Apple has adapted some of its bracelets to the new tones, but not all of them. The classic Milanese bracelet, for example, is only available in silver and “graphite”. A combination of an aluminum watch and a steel bracelet does not go together.
Spend more money or wait
Certain color combinations will only be available in the future if you use the more expensive steel versions of the Apple Watch Series 7. For those who at least automatically receive LTE support, at least 730 euros are to be paid. There is also an “Edition” in titanium from 830 euros. As usual, Apple also has luxury watches at the start in cooperation with the Hermès company, for which – including a “Made in France” bracelet – you have to invest at least 1300 euros.
This year’s Apple Watch comes as the main function with a slightly enlarged screen, which has a smaller display edge and allows a QWERTY keyboard for the first time. The group apparently saved a new, flattened design for the coming year. The devices can now be charged 33 percent faster. The built-in system-in-package seems to have only changed slightly in terms of performance – except for the adaptation to the larger display and the fast charging function.
