Criticism Arises from FFF Supporters Against Prohibition of Halting Matches for Breaking Fast

Paris

The French Football Federation received scathing satire in the match Paris Saint Germain vs Lyon. FFF criticized about the rule of breaking the fast Ramadan player.

PSG vs Lyon in the continuation of Ligue 1 took place at the Parc des Princes Stadium, Paris, Monday (3/4/2023) in the morning WIB. The host Ultras satirized FFF with a giant banner.

In his banner, the ultras wrote A date, a glass of water: the nightmare of the FFF,” or meaning “Dates, Glass of Water: FFF’s Nightmare.” The writing seems to be a form of protest by supporters against FFF’s policy in the month of Ramadan.

According to The team, The FFF has reportedly sent an email to the referee. The contents are a prohibition to stop the game for a moment to give Muslim players the opportunity to break the Ramadan fast.

In its letter, the FFF argued that football should not be disturbed by political, religious or ideological reasons, whether at the club level, license holders or referees.

This policy differs from that implemented in several countries. In England, the Premier League gives players the opportunity to break their fast with the referee stopping the game for a moment.

That’s what makes fans angry. Protest banners were unfurled to criticize FFF policies.

In France, there are many Muslims, their number can reach 4-8 percent of the total population. In football itself, many of the top Muslim players come from France.

Among them are former players Zinedine Zidane until today’s players like Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante – The Best Of N’Golo Kante.
