Critically injured after violence in central Oslo

A person is critically injured after being knocked unconscious in Oslo.

A person has been knocked unconscious in Haakon VIIs gate in Oslo, the police write.

The victim was taken unconscious to Ullevål hospital.

– We are working on site with questioning of witnesses and crime scene investigation.

In an update, the police write that the victim was taken to the emergency department at Ullevål. The person is described as critically injured.

– The case is more serious than we initially imagined, says operations manager Vidar Pedersen to VG a while later.

– The victim has been sent to Ullevål, and is being operated on for head injuries. The person is critically injured.

He says the police have gone wide, video material will be analysed, and they have spoken to witnesses.

– Two men in their early 20s were arrested nearby following witness descriptions. It happened without drama.

The two are currently suspected of bodily harm.

– Is there an acquaintance between the parties?

– There is currently nothing to indicate any relationship between the parties.

– So this could be blind violence?

– We cannot rule out blind violence, no.

Pedersen does not want to say anything about whether those arrested are former acquaintances of the police. He says there were quite a few people present in the area.

Were weapons used?

– We have no information about that, and no weapon has been found.

The ugly incident of violence took place in Haakon VIIs gate in Oslo.
