/ world today news/ The director of the Ukrainian energy company “Naftogaz” Andrey Kobolev called on the EU to put pressure on the Russian group “Gazprom” in connection with Russia’s energy policy towards Slovakia, as well as to ask the Russian company to remove itself from a key pipeline between Slovakia and Ukraine, Focus reported, referring to AFP.
“If Gazprom wants to watch how gas is measured, let it watch. But it cannot stop European countries from selling gas to Ukraine,” Kobolev said.
He has indicated that most countries in Europe are “well prepared” for the winter period if Russia decides to carry out its threats and turn off the tap. The amount of natural gas stored in many EU countries is “huge”, and a number of countries can also import liquefied natural gas.
However, according to Kobolev, the situation for Romania, Bulgaria and Serbia is “critical”, which in the event of a crisis may require gas supplies from Ukraine.
