Peronism and psychiatric hospitals. These are the two large groups included in the dialectic between Cristina Kirchner and José Mayans, in the midst of the government crisis and the rearmament of the opposition. After the vice president questioned those who see Peronism in blood in the current vice president Victoria Villarruel – a denialist without any kind of makeup – Senator José Mayans tried to escalate the discussion by trying to blame Kirchnerism as the one responsible for placing Alberto Fernández at the head of the PJ. But CFK was not left behind and showed how the candidacy of the former president was orchestrated precisely as an option to confront the troops that respond to the former president.
“What do we do with those who appointed Alberto as party president? Do we also send them to the psychiatric hospital?” Mayans asked in radio statements on Tuesday. This was in relation to Cristina Kirchner’s request on Monday, in which she requested a “psychiatric examination” for those who say that Villarruel is a “Peronist.”
CFK’s response was suggestive, as she retweeted Mayra Mendoza’s post. The mayor of Quilmes linked archive notes that give an account of Alberto Fernández’s candidacy for the PJ, when he was already head of state. There it is revealed that the candidacy was in opposition to – and not as a result of – the wishes of Cristina Kirchner and her troops. “‘What Peronism wants is to not be subjected to Cristina’s logic again,’ is the interpretation of those close to the President,” is the title of one of the linked notes.
Mayans had had a relaxed exchange with Villarruel last week in the chamber, in an exchange that had concluded with the legislator calling on the vice president to “deepen the friendship.” Without naming him, Fernández de Kirchner referred to that attitude and asked for “psychiatric expertise” for those who want to include Villarruel in Peronism.
