Cristiano Ronaldo looked set to equalize in the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League.

The Portuguese then faced a huge miss when he shot wide from close range.

Ronaldo and his Al-Nassr who then lost on penalties.

Al-Nassr went into today’s second leg underdogs after losing 1–0 to Al-Ain of the United Arab Emirates. It got even worse when Al-Ain started tonight’s game by scoring both 1-0 and 2-0. Al-Nassr was then able to score two goals only to see his megastar miss an open goal. It was a goalkeeper return that landed on the feet in front of the 39-year-old. Ronaldo then rolled the ball wide and could hardly believe his eyes.

Former Manchester United defender Alex Telles was then able to make it 3–2 for Al-Nassr, which meant a tie in the quarter-finals and extra time.

Lost on penalties

Once in extra time, Al-Nassr first took a red card, which opened up for Al-Ain to score 3–3 in the match and thus 4–3 over the two matches. Then Ronaldo was able to avenge himself and score a penalty in the 118th minute to take the match to a penalty shootout.

A shootout that Al-Nassr lost and is thus out of the AFC Champions League.
