Cristiano Ronaldo’s Impact on Serie A: From Reviving the League to Juventus’ Success

Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus in July 2018, after a successful nine-year career with Real Madrid. The signing of the Portuguese by the ‘Vecchia Signora’ was considered a great achievement for the club and a move that generated expectation both in Italy and around the world. The transfer was reported to be around €100 million, making it one of the most expensive in football history. Such a fact has led the current Al Nassr striker to affirm that before his arrival, Serie A was dead.

In the midst of the questioning about his signing for Al Nassr, at the end of last year, Ronaldo has once again highlighted his influence in any league in the world. And it is that after the arrival of the Portuguese, several level players began to sign for clubs in Saudi Arabia.

According to Ronaldo, who believes that everything he touches turns to gold, the Italian League held little or no interest before he became a Juventus striker.

“They criticized me for coming to the Saudi League, but what happened now? I led the way… and now all the players are coming here. When I joined Juventus, Serie A was dead and it was revived. Wherever Cristiano goes, he generates more interest, ”he said at a press conference.

The passage of Cristiano Ronaldo by Juventus

In his first season with Juventus, Ronaldo made an immediate impact. He was the team’s top scorer in Serie A, the Italian league, scoring 21 goals in 31 games. He also contributed to Juventus’ eighth consecutive Serie A title.

In his second season, Cristiano continued to be a leading figure in the team, scoring 31 goals in 33 Serie A games and again helping Juventus secure the league title. However, the team was unsuccessful in the Champions League, being eliminated in the round of 16 by Lyon.

The third season at Juventus, 2020-2021, was a bit more complicated. The team was unable to maintain dominance in Serie A and finished in fourth place. Despite that, Ronaldo was again the team’s top scorer: 29 goals in 33 league games.
