In Group F, Portugal won their first game against Hungary on Monday evening. The defending champion was happy about a late but clear 3-0 victory in Budapest. Right from the start, Portugal pushed the Hungarian hosts deep into their own half, but could hardly create scoring chances. It wasn’t until the end of the second half that Portugal struck. Raphael Warrior shot in the 84th minute Willi Orban from where the ball is deflected to make it 1-0 untenable. Just a few seconds later, Orban is back in focus. The central defender brought Rafa Silva to the ground and the referee immediately pointed to the point. Cristiano Ronaldo converted the penalty to 2-0 and thus scored his tenth Euro goal. With that he is before Michel platini (9 goals) sole record scorer of the European Championship.
In stoppage time, the striker put from Juventus Turin even one more. After a one-two with Silva, Ronaldo scored the third goal that evening.
