The soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo will testify in the case against Juventus of Turin, in which the Italian club is accused of financial irregularities and illegal salary maneuvers, reported this Saturday the local newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport. The former player of the ‘Vecchia Signora’ has made himself available to the Prosecutor’s Office with the hope of recovering the 19.6 million euros (about 21 million dollars) that the team owes him.

The investigation uncovered an agreement, from March 2020, which included the Portuguese star and other of his teammates, on the resignation of four months of salary due to the coronavirus pandemic. The directives had promised to return three of the four salaries they had given up (but without registering them or informing the Italian Football Federation), which were not recognized by the striker.

If an infringement is found, the Justice could force Juventus to pay Ronaldo up to four times the value it owes him.
