One of the four points on the agenda of the next general meeting of Sporting CP, scheduled for October 8, is the examination and vote of the management’s proposal to give the name of Cristiano Ronaldo to the door 7 of the José Alvalade stadium.
A gesture of homage to the former Lions player, who will join other emblematic figures already perpetuated in the stadium, namely Damas, Hilário, Francisco Stromp, Manuel Fernandes, Peyroteo, and even Jordão.
As a reminder, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has already given his name to the Lisbon club’s training center. This year, the club also presented a third jersey in his tribute.
Cristiano Ronaldo joined the Sporting nursery in 1997, at the age of 12. He debuted for the club’s main team at the age of 17, in August 2002, before joining Manchester United.
