Cristiano Ronaldo, the royal exploits

Cristiano Ronaldo was once again asked by a fan on the football field for a selfie.

Shortly after Ronaldo gave Portugal a 2-0 lead against Poland, a pitch invader approached the Al-Nassr striker and asked for a selfie. The 39-year-old appeared to tell security to politely move away so his photo could be taken, before the match resumed shortly afterwards.

While such acts probably shouldn’t be encouraged, it didn’t mean much that night as Portugal secured their third victory out of three in this year’s competition with a 3- 1 in Poland. Roberto Martinez’s side could secure a place in the Nations League quarter-finals if they beat Scotland this week.

Ronaldo was approached by a number of fans on the pitch asking for selfies this year while he was playing for Portugal. On one occasion during Euro 2024 he appeared to enjoy a particular instance, but when it happened repeatedly the former Manchester United star was clearly annoyed.

Ronaldo, who scored his 906th career goal and third in this season’s Nations League in the win over Poland, could feature for Portugal when they face bottom-of-the-group Scotland on Tuesday night.
