2008, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017: these are the years in which Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded the Ballon d’Or during his career. And if this prestigious trophy acts as the supreme Grail in terms of individual performance, the one won by the Portuguese in 2013 hides a beautiful story. Indeed, the current player of Al-Nassr (Saudi Arabia) had decided to donate his Ballon d’Or to a charity, responsible for supporting children with serious illnesses.

A trophy that had been sold for €645,000 at auction by the Foundation Make A Wish, to Israeli billionaire Idan Ofer. The English newspaper The Mirror reports, however, that it is a perfect replica and that the original trophy is still on display in the Portuguese star’s museum, in Madeira. Quite funny fact: Idan Ofer, buyer of the trophy, had acquired 32% of the shares of Atlético de Madrid in 2017, eternal rival of Real Madrid where CR7 had its best hours.
