SoccerRonaldo felt “trahi” at Manchester United
The Portuguese is not happy with his situation at the Red Devils. In an interview, CR7 said in particular that he has no respect for his coach.
Cristiano Ronaldo said on Sunday he felt “betrayed” by Manchester United, adding that manager Erik ten Hag and other top managers at his club were trying to force him out.
In an interview with Piers Morgan, the five-time Ballon d’Or player, 37, is going through a complicated season. The Dutch manager, who took charge of the Red Devils last May, offers him little time to play.
The Portuguese was not even in the squad for Sunday’s Premier League match, won 2-1 at Fulham. “I have no respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me,” the British TV presenter said on the famous show. “Not just the coach, but two or three other guys from the club. I feel betrayed.”
To the host who asked him if the Manchester United management was trying to separate from him, the Portuguese, who was about to leave for the World Cup in Qatar, replied: “Yes, I felt betrayed and I had the feeling that some people You don’t want me here, not just this season, but last season as well.”
A complicated return
The Portuguese international, after reigning over Real Madrid and passing for Juventus Turin, returned to Manchester United in August 2021. Without ever returning to the glorious years of his first stint, under the guidance of Alex Ferguson.
The Red Devils had then won three English league titles and a Champions League, Ronaldo had obtained the first of his five Golden Balls. Last season, Manchester United fell to 6th place in the Premier League, failing to qualify for the Champions League.
“I want the best for the club”
Media later reported that Ronaldo had tried in vain to find another club, which would be in the running for the most prestigious of European competitions. “Since Sir Alex left I haven’t seen any development at the club. Nothing has changed” Ronaldo said.
“I want the best for this club, that’s why I came to Manchester United. But there are internal elements that don’t help us reach the top level of (Manchester) City, Liverpool and even Arsenal (…) A club of this size should still be at the top of the pecking order and sadly it is not.”
Manchester United are currently fifth in the Premier League, 11 points behind leaders Arsenal.
