Portuguese Al-Nasr striker Cristiano Ronaldo was sent off in the derby match against Al-Hilal yesterday, Monday, at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, as part of the Saudi Super Cup semi-finals.
Ronaldo and Ali Al-Bulaihi, defender of Al-Hilal, clashed in the 86th minute of the match after Al-Bulaihi tried to prevent the Portuguese international from taking a throw-in, in order to disrupt the game, after his team was ahead by two unanswered goals. Ronaldo elbowed him forcefully, causing referee Mohammed Al-Huwaish to show the red card to Ronaldo.
While leaving the field after being sent off, Ronaldo appeared in a video clip clapping and calling on the audience to applaud Al-Bulayhi.
Al Hilal wins 2-1
The match ended with Al Hilal winning by two goals to one, as Salem Al Dosari and Brazilian Malkoun scored for the winner in the 61st and 72nd minutes, while Senegalese Sadio Mane scored for the loser in the 90th + 9th minute.
After the match with Al-Nasr was decided in its favor, Al-Hilal set a date in the final next Thursday, with Al-Ittihad, which had qualified on Sunday at the expense of Al-Wahda by winning by two goals to one.
