Cristiano Ronaldo selected for Premier League player of the month award – Man United News And Transfer News – Marseille News

Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo has been shortlisted for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for September.

The Portuguese legend hit the ground running at Old Trafford after his sensational comeback from the transfer deadline for Serie A giants Juventus.

United made the step for their former star at the last minute after it emerged that neighbors and rivals Manchester City were trying to sign him.

The transfer plunged media and social media into collapse and jersey sales skyrocketed, but no one expected the football to follow would be such an instant hit.

He has scored three goals in his first three Premier League appearances, opening his account with a brace against Newcastle in his second debut for United.

The center forward also registered 17 shots in the three games and recorded an impressive 81% passing accuracy.

He has also scored in United’s two UEFA Champions League games so far, which, while not directly related to the Premier League award, underlines his magnificent form.

The 36-year-old has scored five goals in six games as many doubted he would still be able to cope with the demands of Premier League football.

The other nominees for the award are another Portuguese international, Joao Cancelo of Manchester City, Antonio Rudiger of Chelsea, Allan Saint-Maximin of Newcastles, Mo Salah of Liverpool and Ismaila Sarr of Watford.

Ronaldo’s team-mate David de Gea may consider himself unlucky not to be included in the shortlist after an incredible run of games that brought him back to the best form he has displayed in the 2013- 2017.
