Danny Simpson has revealed how Cristiano Ronaldo helped him on a date during Leicester City’s pre-season years ago. The former soccer professional explained in the podcast UndrTheCoshthat while his focus should of course have been on preparation, he chose to go on a date with then-Miss California.
The two met for a romantic meal at a steakhouse. However, his date didn’t seem particularly interested in him. The rendezvous was slow before Ronaldo accidentally recognized his former Manchester United team-mate and tapped him on the shoulder.
The two hugged and had a little chat about Ronaldo’s European title with Portugal. Simpson said on the podcast that the date completely changed after that. His date immediately asked him, “How do you know Ronaldo?”
Simpson downplayed the situation, only mentioning that they once played together. In the podcast he reported: “She was a completely different person just because Ronaldo greeted me.”
After realizing the date only went better because Ronaldo recognized him, Simpson lost interest in Miss California. It’s still a great story for the 36-year-old.
Last year Simpson reached an amicable agreement with Bristol City to terminate his contract and ended his playing career. The Englishman celebrated his greatest success in 2016 with the sensational championship from Leicester City.
