Cristiano Ronaldo raises Manchester United accounts – CR7’s diary

The English club’s payroll rose 25 percent in the last quarter

Manchester United’s quarterly report and accounts (30 June-30 September) leave no room for doubt. The red devils’ payroll is 25 percent heavier since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphaël Varane, meaning the three aces offered to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to attack the Premier League and the Champions League.

The ‘Daily Mirror’ reports that Manchester United started to spend over 1.5 million euros weekly in this period. Six million euros monthly. The English tabloid also adds that Cristiano Ronaldo is the main responsible for this increase, as he earns 655,000 euros per week, in other words, slightly more than 2.6 million euros per month. This amount makes him the highest paid player to compete in the millionaire Premier League, something perfectly normal whether or not he was a penta Ballon d’Or. According to the report and accounts presented now, Manchester United paid 105.4 million euros in salaries to the squad in the last quarter, representing an increase of 19.7 million euros in relation to the previous quarter.

Ed Woodward, executive vice-president of Manchester United, justifies the increase in expenditure in an even more declared commitment to sports. “The financial results are proof of our resilience during the pandemic period. Our main objective is success on the field. The coach, the players and the other club employees are determined to achieve this objective”, says the manager of the red devils.

The bet has not been reflected, however, within the four lines, as Manchester United occupies 6th place in the Premier League, leading Group F (the same points as Villarreal) of the Champions League.
