Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United | This is what John Arne Riise says about the dispute with Ronaldo at United after a television interview

AVALDSNES (Nettavisen): Boiling at Manchester United the day after star player Cristiano Ronaldo appeared in an interview with controversial TV personality Piers Morgan in which, among other things, he went hard on former teammates. He also believes that he he was treated poorly by United.

The full 90-minute interview was released on a separate program this week. Earlier in the week, parts of the interview were shown in video clips and in various British media.

The latest development in the United/Ronaldo lineup is one the club are considering to ban and sue the star player.

COMMENT: Ronaldo considers himself the greatest. She knows what he’s doing

– He doesn’t see the way back

Former Premier League star John Arne Riise is certain Ronaldo played his last game for United.

– I see no way back. Then they have to sit down. There are many things to think about. It’s the club, the fans, the sponsors who have to accept that he comes back and have to apologize or lie, the former Liverpool player told Nettavisen.

– As he himself said, he feels let down and this affects his pride. I think he knows it very well. He came out forcefully and when you do an interview with Piers Morgan you know there will be headlines for the next few weeks.

Riise himself has experience at big clubs Monaco in France, Liverpool and Fulham in England and Rome in Italy. Furthermore, he has the most international matches for Norway of all time with 110 caps with the flag on his chest.

In the interview with Morgan, Ronaldo also said that it was him he felt betrayed by United.

– I think this is Ronaldo’s last attempt to leave the club, which is why he is going so strong. I see no way back, I don’t think United can do that either as a club.

– Was it unfair?

– I don’t know what is behind the statements. The interview says and shows a lot that something happened behind the scenes. He himself says in the interview that he thinks it’s a shame that people comment without knowing the whole truth. With that interview, he knew he was going to be successful, Riise says.

It includes reactions

He points out that he hasn’t seen the entire interview and that there’s a lot of background information he doesn’t know about why Ronaldo has chosen to put so much effort into it.

In the interview, the Portuguese, who is preparing for the World Cup in Qatar, reveals that he has nothing left for current United manager Erik ten Hag.

– I have no respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me. If you don’t respect me, I will never respect you, says the 37-year-old.

Riise, who now coaches top-flight club Avaldsnes, believes Ronaldo has chosen the wrong way to vent his frustration.

– I have not seen the entire interview and will not comment too much without knowing the background. But some of the things you said, I understand, will be written down and people will react. He feels treated badly.

– I don’t want to say that the way he did it is the right one because I think something could have been resolved differently. I understand the frustration of fans and others that this was the wrong way to do it. At the same time, one must understand that he may have his reasons. I don’t know what they are. I would probably do it a different way.

– The right time to go out

– What would you do if you were cursed at a Premier League club?

– I don’t know, I haven’t been cursed at a Premier League club. But I think there’s a lot behind it that we don’t know. How communication has been between Ronaldo and his people with the club is not something the rest of us can say anything about. I don’t know how deep it is for him.

When Ronaldo first went so hard against his own club, coach and former teammates, Riise believes it was an auspicious time for him to do so. Due to the World Cup break, United’s next Premier League match isn’t until 27 December.

– When he chooses to go out, it’s at the right time. Now he has a month off from the club, there are no games and he’s gone. So the moment is right for him. He rests a bit in the World Cup but creates huge reactions. I’m pretty sure it’s over at United, Riise repeats and concludes.

The World Cup final is on 18 December, but United play Burnley in the League Cup three days later. They also have two practice games on December 7 and 10. The World Cup will end on 2 December for Ronaldo and Portugal at the earliest, should they be eliminated already in the group stage.
