Cristiano Ronaldo so star victory thanks to two goals when Al Nasser won the Arab Club Champions Cup after defeating Al Hilal 2-1 in extra time at the King Fahd Stadium, Sunday (13/8) early morning WIB.
The two teams clashed fiercely since the first half started. Tight battle occurred in the midfield of the two teams.
Al Nassr, who relied on the trio of Cristiano Ronaldo, Talisca and Sadio Mane, was actually able to trouble Al Hilal’s defense. On the other hand, Al Hilal tried to take advantage of the speed that Malcom and Michael had.
But both teams could not score a goal despite getting a number of opportunities until the end of the first half.
Al Hilal opened the scoring first through Michael’s goal in the 51st minute. This goal started from a quick counterattack and Malcom’s cross ball was able to be headed by Michael to shake Al Nassr’s goal.
Al Nassr got a number of golden opportunities to score after trailing 0-1. However, the brilliant appearance of Al Hilal goalkeeper, Mohammed Al Owais, made it possible to counteract the opportunities that Al Nassr’s players got.
Al Nassr’s efforts to equalize were even more difficult after Abdulelah Al Amri was sent off by the referee in the 71st minute. Al Amri received a direct red card for violating Malcom who was running into the Al Nassr penalty box.
Playing with 10 people, Al Nassr was able to equalize in the 75th minute. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the equalizing goal.
Measurable bait from the right side of the attack Ronaldo easily flicked into Al Hilal’s goal to make the score 1-1.
Ronaldo then managed to break into Al Hilal’s goal for the second time in the 84th minute. However, the goal was annulled because Ronaldo was already in an offside position before the goal occurred.
In the second half injury time it was Al Hilal’s turn to get a golden opportunity. However, Milinkovic-Savic’s header was still on the right side of Al Nassr’s goal.
Al Hilal got another opportunity through Malcom. His shot was aimed at goal but was saved by Nawaf Alaqidi.
Ronaldo was able to bring Al Nassr back ahead 2-1 in the eighth minute of the first half of extra time. Ronaldo’s header took advantage of the ball thrown up by Sekou Fofana’s kick which hit Al Hilal’s crossbar.
The match went even fiercer after Al Nassr won 2-1. It’s just that Al Nassr had to lose Ronaldo who was injured in the 112th minute.
CR7 was lying on the field after a duel with an opposing player. Ronaldo even had to be transported by the medical team’s car to the sidelines.
Al Nassr, who was already 2-1 up, was able to maintain his advantage over Al Hilal to win the Arab Club Champions Cup.
